At the Merchant’s House, Christmas creeps in as early as the beginning of November, as if it can’t wait. Lights come on in the windows and the house fills with sparkle, glimmer and the atmosphere of times gone by. The Järvis are Christmas people through and through; they love old decorations, objects weathered by time, and that magical moment when they can once again play their 1950s Christmas records. Colourful vintage style is close to the couple’s hearts, and at Christmas in particular, the past and present blend together in their home to create a warm atmosphere.

In Kauppiaantalo, not a single room is left without a touch of Christmas; candles, sparkling glass baubles and other decorations even find their way into the bathroom. Every decoration tells a story; every corner exudes a love of Christmas.

Christmas at Kauppiaantalo begins right in the courtyard. When you arrive, the first thing you’ll come across is a treasure trove for those interested in upcycled décor – the vintage lifestyle shop Villi Kanala. The shop is open all year round, including, of course, at Christmas. Right next to the shop, an atmospheric, illuminated path winds its way through the garden to Kauppiaantalo.
